Parque México & Parque España: A Guide to Condesa's Green Heart
Published September 13, 2026
All about Parque México and Parque España in Condesa: their Art Deco history, what to do, when to go and why they're the soul of the neighborhood.

If Condesa has a heart, it's its parks. Parque México and Parque España shape the life of the neighborhood: their paths, fountains and trees set the rhythm of coffee mornings and afternoon strolls. Here's your guide to enjoying them.
Parque México: Art Deco outdoors
Opened in 1927 over part of the old racetrack, Parque México (officially Parque San Martín) is an Art Deco gem. Its most iconic feature is the Foro Lindbergh, an open-air theater with curved porticoes, plus fountains, a monumental clock, towering palm trees and a small duck pond. It's a gathering point for runners, families, outdoor classes and, especially, dogs and their walkers.
Parque España: the intimate break
A few blocks away, Parque España is smaller and quieter, with playgrounds and shaded areas. Together with Parque México it forms a green pairing that makes Condesa one of the most walkable areas in the city.
What to do
- Walk or run the tree-lined loops in the morning.
- Sit on a bench at the Foro Lindbergh to read or watch the neighborhood go by.
- Walk (or simply admire) the dogs, the park's true stars.
- Chain it with a specialty coffee on the surrounding streets.
When to go
Weekday mornings are the calmest. Weekends pick up: occasional markets, families and lots of movement. In spring, jacarandas turn several of the neighborhood's streets purple.
