Vincent Van Gogh was born on March 30, 1853 in the Netherlands. He was the eldest son of a priest from whom he inherited the religious vocation, his family did not have much money. In 1863 he entered the Zerenbergen school, but had to leave it due to the economic situation of his parents. At the age of 16, he began working as an employee at the Goupil Art Gallery in The Hague, which was being run by his uncle. There begins his love for painting and literature.
The gallery moved to London and Vincent decided to move into a boarding house. There he led a quiet life and began to draw, but after being rejected by the woman he was in love with, he became violent and aloof and moved to Paris. Vincent began having hallucinations and suffering from very serious pain, so his brother decided to admit him to Saint Paul's Hospital, where he was rejected.
The Saint Reney Hospital took him in and he was diagnosed with epilepsy and schizophrenia. Even with his illness, Vincent continued to paint and draw without stopping, although his works continued without success and without giving him money. He only sold two paintings in his life.
