Beautiful cafes to escape the rain.

Updated: Oct 4, 2021

The rainy season makes you want to stay at home enjoying a comfortable and sheltered space. Unfortunately, that is not always possible, and there are times when it starts to rain unexpectedly and it is necessary to quickly find a place to take refuge. Therefore, and so that you can enjoy a warm cup of coffee while watching the rain fall, here we share some of the most welcoming cafes to escape the rains in CDMX.

CAFÉ CURADO

Café Curado is one of the most welcoming coffee shops in CDMX, a place that forms a creative community around specialty coffee. It has an incredible variety of beans that highlight the quality of the coffee culture in Mexico, all specially selected by its team to offer you the best possible cup of coffee. In the place you will also find delicious desserts - such as their carrot cake or red velvet cake -, sweet bread and a brunch menu.

TETETLÁN

Of Nahuatl origin, Tetetlán means ‘place among many stones’, which perfectly defines the space of this incredible project, established within the ‘Pedregal House’ - considered one of the greatest works of the Mexican architect Luis Barragán -. More than a cozy cafeteria, Tetetlán is a place that combines exquisite traditional gastronomy, a 'Barra de Aromas' with wonderful Mexican cafes, a library specialized in modern and contemporary art, an art gallery and a local products store.

BUDAPEST CAFÉ CUKRÁSZDA

Budapest Café Cukrászda is one of the most welcoming and traditional coffee shops in CDMX. Set in the Countess, it offers a charming space that pays homage to Budapest, with classic Hungarian pastries and beautiful vintage décor. Their desserts are delicious and handmade, with recipes that date back to 1930, but that retain a unique and special flavor. We recommend you try their Zserbo cake, prepared in walnut layers with orange and / or apricot jam, covered in chocolate, a delight.

BOICOT CAFÉ

Boicot Café is in charge of sharing the coffee quality of Veracruz in each of its products, characterized by an incredible aroma and flavor that will delight all your senses. While the place is famous for its cold brew, it offers other drinks prepared with coffee, infusions, breakfasts and desserts. It has several branches around the CDMX, so you will surely find one near you.

It is a small corner of coffee and bread located in the Roma neighborhood, with a very cozy space full of wooden tables, exposed brick walls and many plants. It is the perfect place to take shelter from the rain or have a pleasant afternoon at work, as it also has a peaceful atmosphere in which it will be easy for you to concentrate.
