If what you are looking for is to enjoy fresh air, nature and a good walk, we share some of the ideal places to go for a walk as a couple or as a family in CDMX.
Mexico City, apart from having a great cultural and artistic offer, has beautiful parks, gardens and Protected Natural Areas, so take note of our best recommendations for that special tour.
CHAPULTEPEC FOREST
With an area of almost 700 hectares and recognized as the largest urban park in Latin America, the Bosque de Chapultepec is one of the most entertaining places to go for a walk in CDMX. It houses two of the most important museums in the capital (the National Museum of Anthropology and the National Museum of History Castillo de Chapultepec) as well as three artificial lakes, a zoo, and outdoor sports and recreational spaces.
MASARYK
One of the most glamorous avenues in CDMX. It is full of prestigious restaurants and exclusive brand stores that decorate their windows with unique designs. By having a wide sidewalk, it allows you to walk without worrying about cars, in addition to the fact that nearby is Lincoln Park, a green space where you can enjoy a delicious ice cream while you complete your tour.
TEZOZÓMOC PARK
Located north of Mexico City, Tezozomoc Park has one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the capital. It was inaugurated in 1982 and, after some renovations, it currently has an artificial lake and island, walkers, bike paths and sports fields, as well as signs that explain the history of the pre-Hispanic peoples that inhabited the area.
PALACE OF FINE ARTS / HISTORICAL CENTER
The Alameda Central is the oldest public garden in Mexico and America. It has been part of the urban landscape of the capital for more than 400 years, and has become one of the meeting points and social activities of Mexico, as well as one of its architectural and urban references. Full of sculptures and surrounded by historical monuments, it is one of the most beautiful gardens in the city. In addition, after visiting it, you can stroll through the Historic Center, delight in its beautiful Porfirian architecture and absorb the cultural heritage of CDMX.
REFORM WALK
Built by order of Maximiliano de Habsburgo in 1867, and initially known as the "Paseo de la Emperatriz", the Paseo de la Reforma is one of the most emblematic avenues of the capital. Definitely one of the most pleasant places to go for a walk in CDMX, since its tour is accompanied by history, artistic and photographic exhibitions, warm restaurants and the urban spirit of the city.
DESERT OF THE LIONS
Considered one of the most important national parks in Mexico City, the Desierto de los Leones is one of the sites rich in history and natural resources in the capital. It used to be the convent of the Discalced Carmelite Monks, which is now a museum dedicated to the Order and New Spain art. Ideal destination for a long walk since it is a Protected Natural Area where, in addition to being able to carry out sports and recreational activities, you will find small restaurants with local cuisine.
